Visiting Canada

Canada trip will remain on my mind forever. Of course every place has it's own beauty, uniqueness and wonders. It's just that that it needs to be discovered. And that brings lot of joys
In spite of being the neighboring country, one starts feeling the difference the moment one enters Canada, the second largest nation!!

Miles get converted to Kilometers, houses look different, names of the towns and roads happen to different (as compared to U.S.), all that mainly because this country has got lot of British origins and influences (and I liked that). Somehow it seems to be less market-oriented as U.S. seems to be. We just visited the tip of an iceberg in about 4 days.

The well-known Niagara happens to be THE public attraction of this country. It is indeed a real wonder. The fall looks so gigantic that you feel as if your eyesight would be incapable of storing the sight into the memories.  It just falls freely into eternity, from eternity. Don't know where it comes from, where it goes.  But the 'snapshots' of the falls that are situated on the U.S./Canada boundary look very appealing and the Peace Bridge looks to be 'the bridge across forever'!!! Be it daytime or night, the whole set-up looks fascinating. During Daytime one can observe pretty rainbow lines dancing through water. At Nighttime, the bridge looks golden; Niagara River catches its golden reflections and 'becomes' golden. To make the scene look more complete, they have installed(software word in a travelogue?:-)) pretty balloon that looks like full moon. Beware of the illusions!!

On our way ahead, we came across Buddhist temple/stoop. That was interesting. I was wondering about the significance of that in Canada near Niagara. The name of the temple is Thousand Buddhas. There are indeed thousand Buddhas with different gestures, moods and symbols, inside it. The red color was predominant in overall architecture/design.

Further down, we also visited winery. It was interesting to know the processes involved in making of wine. I tasted some grapes straight from the farm, but those were sour:-) The area around had lot of different farms. Open space is something that I have always liked.

The coastal line of Lake Ontario is interesting. One comes across lot of non-touristy-hence-better places. Bluffer's park is nice and quiet place that we came across in Scarborough(again this 'borough' kind of nomenclature similar to U.K.!). With lots of free-flying birds around, cool breeze from Lake Ontario and the randomly placed rocks, together make nice set-up. I enjoyed getting refreshed by the breeze, admiring the birds, sitting at the rocks.

Further ahead, we went to a place 'Big Red Apple'. They have made real big Apple (of course artificial) and one can get inside and take a look around. Basically they have huge apple farm there. It was nice to sit there under the tree for a while and take a close look at the black rabbits!!!

The next place Pre'nsquell Prov. Park, was real amazing place!!! The day had started turning into evening and we came across wonderful beach inside the park. The sky looked so pretty that one could just sit there for hours watching at the graceful display of colors. It was quite a natural decision to watch the sunset and stay back there itself, though that was not on plan. Planning is something that always helps but sometimes it's fun to discard the plan for better. Well, I thoroughly enjoyed the touch of water and sand. And also I liked to stretch my vision and catch the fine dividing line of the horizon. On the shore, again there were lots of pretty birds scattered in some groups. I liked to scare them a little and the whole groups of birds would fly to another place.

In the same park, there were lots of trails one could take. We took only one trail. That was true 'National Geographic' kind of surrounding. It was just too quiet, in the company of wild flowers, small ponds, reflections of the skies inside them, tall grass around. We reached another beach in the same area. We got to see the sunset, far away. Life is life because of such moments.

We got very good accommodation in a nearby town-Brighton. It was a Bed and Breakfast, run by English couple that migrated to Canada about thirty years back!!!! They seemed to have real good aesthetic sense seeing the paintings inside and overall interior.

Then we went to Bata Shoe Museum at Toronto. It had collection of some strange shoes that one can only think of wearing in dreams, or one would get scared of wearing even in dreams:-) I had just thought of buying some good shoes if I could find something good, no wonder that did not happen!

Art Museum of Ontario was real fabulous place. Very good paintings, books on photography, some other master pieces.

CN Tower, the world's second tallest building, is place worth visiting. The view of Toronto and Lake Ontario from the top was quite amazing. They have a restaurant on the top that completes one rotation in one day. It means if someone is too lazy to take a walk round, he/she can possibly sit at one place in the restaurant for the whole day and get the 360 degree view of the surroundings!! Well, for a moment I got scared when I stood on the glass floor at the top.

We also took cruise at Lake Ontario. The skyline of Toronto looked pretty, especially the violet color of another architecture-sky-dome and CN tower. It was quite cold outside.

On our way back, we went to Niagara Escarpment trails. The trail takes you into the insides of escarpment. Saw some people doing rock climbing. The silence inside the woods was fascinating. As I was observing one of the maple trees, I discovered shape of 'running man' on the trunk of the tree. I think I have taken this habit of looking for different shapes, inside such natural formations, from my father. As I was collecting the maple leaves of different color, I started enjoying that more, because by then I had specific target in mind. I wanted to arrange the leaves in 'chronological' order i.e. from fresh green to mature brown color, depicting the phases of human life or rather any kind of growth!!!

Well, with this we left the boundaries of Canada, always to remain in the memories!!!
